It’s official!
Our WNBA team will be called the Atlanta Dream!
We’ve been waiting since October ‘07 to learn what our team would be called and it’s well worth the wait. It makes perfect sense and Atlanta’s City Council President and the Dream’s team adviser, Lisa Borders, put it perfectly…
“The name fits Atlanta so well — from the time of Mayor [William] Hartsfield when we were deciding to be a transportation hub, all the way forward to the Olympics being held here, with Martin Luther King in the middle with the civil rights movement,” Borders said.
“We have always been dreamers in this city, whether for a commercial purpose or a moral purpose. So the name absolutely captures the spirit of Atlanta.”
